Central  Shelby – Small  Group  comments

Below is a list of comments and or question that were said during the Small Group meetings. There were many of the same questions asked in the Small Group meetings.
  • Cost – Many asked about cost. Hight level costs or budgets were not provide at the time of the small group meetings because it was hard to generate them do to the many variations of the options.
  • Believed the entrances would be beneficial to accessibility – This also was a common statement. Most of the discussions and positive comments were related to options A2 and B1. On A2 most like the welcoming area and the lack of steps. On B2 most like the ground level entrance at Dale St.
  • The Parlor – Most like the relocation of the Parlor but wanted to better understand the “real” size. There was also a concern about losing the history of the “South Pasture”.
  • Welcoming Areas – There was concern about having two Welcoming areas and being able to man those areas before services.
  • The South Pasture – There was some vocal concern about losing the seating space of this area. The concern was about larger holiday services and have enough space for people to sit. Some of the responses to this concern was to have portable chairs for those events and set those up in the welcome area and possible the parlor depending on entrance configuration.
  • Harris St. Entrance – There was mention that by adding an exterior foyer entrance to this side would help with the security of the kids and reduce the potential of a kid running out the doors directly into the street.
  • Marion St. – A suggestion was brought up that adding a elevator on this side in a maintenance room may also work to have ground level access to all floors.
  • ADA Accessible Entrances – Can these be covered to get out of the weather.
  • Music Storage – It was overwhelmingly positive for the this room to be made.
  • Washington St. Entrance- There was a lot of positive talk around adding a landing at the current steps leading from the street to the sanctuary.
  • Youth Area (3rd Floor) – There were questions regarding about what is to happen to this area. The statement was that it would be freshened up (new paint and repairs).
  • Presentation – Overall everyone like the presentation and like that they are being included in the process.
