Director of Children's Ministry
Central United Methodist Church is hiring a Director of Children’s Ministry who will develop and lead a Children’s Ministry Team to nurture a holistic ministry with children from Pre-K to fifth grade that includes fellowship, learning, worship, missions, family ministry opportunities, and special ministries such as VBS and seasonal events.
Central is a multigenerational congregation located on the historic court square of Shelby, North Carolina, committed to growing with and serving our community. Qualifications:
Deep, personal faith in Jesus Christ, seeking to know, love and serve God
A passion and vision for fostering spiritual growth in children and families
Experience leading children ministries preferred
An advocate of United Methodist theology and doctrine
Musical abilities are desired but not required
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and lead a Children’s Ministry Team to nurture a holistic ministry with children that includes fellowship, learning, worship, missions, family ministry opportunities, and special ministries such as VBS and seasonal events
Recruit & resource children’s ministry leaders for children’s programs such as Sunday School, Children’s Church and other ministries
Assist in selection & procurement of age appropriate curriculum & resources
Work with Nursery Leader to give guidance & direction, connecting Nursery Ministry to overall Children’s Program
Work with the lead pastor and Director of Discipleship to provide opportunities for children to lead in the life of the church, including, but not limited to, worship
Coordinate with the Kids’ Place Director to strengthen connections between the preschool and larger congregation
Position:
Part-time. Pay is competitive and commensurate with experience.
