Here at Central UMC, we strive to provide a welcoming environment where students can find themselves and find God together. Through fellowship, discipleship, and mission opportunities, we will grow with one another as we live out and study the teachings of Christ. Jump in anytime, you are always welcome! Youth Group Camp @ Tekoa Foothills

Calling all students who have completed 6th grade – 12th grade in 2021, we have the chance to spend the week together at camp! Woohoo! Understandably, this summer the idea of having your kids share space at camp or other summer activities with other kids from different households may be a bit daunting. This is hopefully a helpful alternative to that where we are familiar with everyone in the group already, and contact is majorly reduced with other groups. We have 15 spots (including chaperones). Check out full info below.

Register here:

Dates: Sunday July, 18 – Saturday, July 24
Price: $350/person (we can help with this cost if you let Savanna know)
Pricing Includes: lodging, meals, 1 or 2 day mission experiences of home repair in local community including tools, training and supplies, and all the activities of camp facilitated by Tekoa Foothills staff
Camp Fun: zipline, boats, pool, challenge course, talent show, archery, axe throwing, slingshots, orienteering, crafts & more.
Discipleship & Spiritual Formation: campfire worship, daily devotions and vespers, and closing candlelight worship all centered on Tekoa Foothill’s summer theme.
COVID-19 Precautions: Here is a complete guide to Tekoa Foothills’ procedures and protocols specifically for this  summer.

Otherwise, our youth group will act as a family group during our time at camp. We will bunk together, share meals together, and participate in all scheduled activities together! Savanna and our other adult leaders will act as the “counselors” during the week, and we will have one or two staff members assigned to our group as well. Tekoa Foothills will provide the schedule of activities and lead/facilitate where it is needed.

Confirmation Sunday

Congratulations to Liam, Bretta, Sadie, Ella, Maggie, and Hunter for taking a new step in their faith through Confirmation this past Sunday! CUMC, let’s be true to our vows and do our part to walk their journeys with them.

Outdoor Small Group Gatherings

Thank you to everyone who participated in our youth service day at Camp Tekoa Foothills! It was muddy and wet, but we enjoyed spending the afternoon together and we are able to clear out the bamboo forest and make space for new campsites.

Family Day Camp

As you can see, we had an awesome time axe throwing, hiking, boating, and just enjoying our time together at Camp Tekoa Foothills. Many thank yous to all who participated, especially Tekoa Foothills for letting us share their wonderful space. If you weren’t able to join us, stay in the loop for many more family opportunities to come!

Check out their website for all of the events that are available this fall. They’re offering day passes, tent camping and a LOT of adventure!

Children and Youth Resource Page

While we are in social distancing/stay at home mode, here is a link to a Google Doc that Savanna has compiled of resources to hopefully make sheltering at home a bit less stressful and a little more fun. There are all kinds of things on it, and she will be continually updating it as she finds things worth adding! So, keep this link handy for when you need some home life inspiration. If you know of good resources that are not on this list, please let her know and she will add them so everyone else can benefit. Children and Youth Resource Page

Confirmation Class

Confirmation Class is for rising 7th and 8th graders. These classes are designed to help the learn more about what it means to be a Christian and also to be a member of the United Methodist Church. Each student embarks on this journey with a mentor who journeys along beside them.

Sunday School
3rd Floor Sanctuary. Youth long for leaders to guide and encourage them.  As they study the early kings of the Hebrew faith, they will understand what God looks for in leadership… and how they can be faithful and faith-filled leaders.

Youth fellowship meets on Sunday nights from 5:30-7:00 pm. The night begins with dinner, activities and games progressing to worship, Bible Study, and small groups. We do tons of different activities on Sunday nights throughout the year, including: Bible Study, Game Nights, Youth Rallies, Holiday Parties, and/or Mission Activities.
