Central’s Youth Ministry is dedicated to finding our place in God’s story. We meet on a regular basis and are committed to activities that help us build better relationships with one another and with God. We are a fun group with a heart for God and others.

Middle School
  • Middle School Small Groups meet every Wednesday during the school-year from 6:00-6:45pm. We are currently working our way through the Re:Form Curriculum which includes hilarious animated clips that address many questions that teenagers have about God, Jesus, and how they fit into the equation.
  • Confirmation is also a part of the Middle School Youth program at Central. We invite all 7th grade students to participate in the Confirmation process. We meet on Sunday mornings during regular Sunday School. This is a time for our students to take ownership of their faith and confirm what they believe as a member of the United Methodist Church.
High School
  • High School Small Groups meet each week on Tuesday mornings at 7:15am at Chick-fil-A. This is a time of fellowship and prayer together before the day begins.
  • There are also several “High School ONLY” activities throughout the year. This provides an incentive for the younger students, and also a special time for the older students to have the focus on them.

Youth fellowship meets on Sunday nights from 5:30-7:00pm. The night begins with dinner, activities and games progressing to Bible Study and small groups. We do lots of different activities on Sunday nights throughout the year, including: Bible Study, Game Nights, Youth Rallies, Holiday Parties, and/or Mission Activities.

During the summer months, we meet during the week for fun activities such as hiking, trips to Carowinds and going to the movies. Youth also have the opportunity to participate in two weeklong camps: Wilderness Trail (a faith-based hiking trip) and Team Effort (a mission trip to various parts of the United States).

Girl Scouts
Central has a rich history in Girl Scouts beginning with the first troop formed in 1944. One of our current members was in this troop. Over the years, Central has hosted troops for all ages including Brownies, Daisies, Juniors, Cadettes and Seniors. Many girls who’ve participated in scouting at Central have gone on to earn the highest award in scouting, the Gold Award. Central is one of the few churches that has a separate facility for both Girl and Boy Scouts to meet. The adjacent Palmer Building features colorful, spacious rooms, permanently dedicated to scouting, which were renovated and decorated by older Girl Scouts. Central supports scouting in a variety of ways.

Boy Scouts/Cub Scouts
Troop 104 began at Central in 1927. For 84 years, this troop has produced second and third generation scouts many of whom have earned scouting's highest award, the Eagle Scout.

Club Scout Pack 104 started in 1946. Both programs emphasize leadership, community service, personal fitness and character development. Troop 104 currently has 25 boys and Pack 104 has 40 boys. Troop 104 meets every Monday at 6:30p.m. in the Palmer Building. Pack 104 also meets Monday nights during the school year in the Porter Activity Center at 6:45 p.m

I have a B.A. Criminal Justice and Psychology from UNC-Charlotte. After studying these, it was only natural that I would want to go into youth ministry. I have been working as a Youth Minister for the past 6 years. I grew up Baptist, but, according to Craig, have always been a Methodist at heart. I am married to Sky DeBoever, a total sci-fi geek who is slowly winning me over to the dark-side of dorkdom. I enjoy going to the movies, spending time with my family and friends, hiking, and hula-hooping. I also love to paint and sew. I am a big kid at heart and love working with teenagers and being a part of their lives!
