Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Psalm 100: 1-2
All of Central’s various music ministries are up and running for this fall and we have many exciting things coming your way! Check out the highlights below and you’ll see that there’s something for everyone! If you would like to participate in any of the following music ministries, please contact Danny Buckner at 704-487-6336 or [email protected]
These choirs are open to any child 4yrs – 5th grade and meet each Tuesday 6-6:45pm. Both choirs have begun a new curriculum this fall titled, Be Strong in the Lord. It is founded on Ephesians 6:10 – “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Our songs and musical activities will reinforce the scriptural truths of having courage, being patient, enduring hardships without giving up, loving God and others, and experiencing God’s grace.
Crossfire is open to any 6th-12th grade youth and meets each Sunday 4:30-5:30pm. Crossfire is designed as a sacred choral experience exploring a variety of musical styles. Crossfire offered the cantata, The Light Before Christmas, as part of the Living Gift Market festivities on Friday December 2 on the steps of the Earl Scruggs Center and again for worship at Central on Sunday December 4. If you’d like to hear it, it’s available here. In addition to the Christmas cantata, Crossfire offers music in worship on a monthly basis.
This is Central’s hand bell choir. The ensemble is comprised of eleven ringers ringing three octaves of hand bells and rehearses each Tuesday 7:15-8:30 pm. The ensemble offers music frequently in worship. Central Ringers joined other bell choirs from around North Carolina in participating in the State Bell Festival in February 2017.
These are the primary worship leadership ensembles for Central. Both groups rehearse each Wednesday evening on the following schedule:
6:00pm – Chancel Choir
7:15pm – Praise Ensemble
Chancel Choir is a choral experience that offers a wide variety of sacred anthems ranging from traditional to contemporary.
Praise Ensemble is both an instrumental and vocal experience that includes traditional and contemporary hymns as well as praise and worship music. Both groups share the leadership of our weekly congregational music.
This year’s Christmas cantata will be Go Sing it on the Mountain by Pepper Choplin and it’s going to utilize vocalists and instrumentalists! This is also a great opportunity for other folks that may want to participate for a season to join in so we invite any new folks to join us!
Last year’s adult Christmas cantata was, Small, Dancing Light. We partnered with Shelby Presbyterian to offer this cantata for two special services during this Advent! If you would like to hear it, it’s available in three parts here and here and here.
